Chips and their registration
General information about dog chips:
- The chip has the size of a grain of rice
- Chiping is done by a vet using a special applicator
- Injection is similar to vaccination and applied under the skin
- The chip is usually placed in the left side of the neck or above the shoulder blade
- The chip is a passive carrier of a unique numeric code, it contains no energy source and does not emit any radiation or signal with the dog's position
- Chiping itself will not ensure a successful return of a lost dog, the chip must be registered after its application!
- The chip number must be associated with a specific person (animal owner) and contacts to the owner. This is done by registration
Where the chip number can be registered in the Czech Republic:
www.narodniregistr.cz
BackHome is the largest database of chips, together with the National Register. But there are other websites where you can make a similar registration, namely:
www.identifikace.cz
www.centralniregistrzvirat.cz - free registration
www.registrmikrocipu.cz – free registration
www.iftaregistr.cz – free registration
In the case of finding a dog, it is best to contact the city police and to find out the nearest shelter. You can also report the dog's chip number, which will be communicated to you by the nearest veterinarian or police.
