Collapse

Collapse is not a disease in itself, but a symptom that is defined as a sudden, short-term loss of consciousness. The subsequent adjustment of consciousness is spontaneous, complete and usually also rapid.

Collapse is especially manifested in older dogs suffering from a severe degree of heart disease, because of sudden excitement (for example, outside during sniffing and licking after heat females), what can cause short-term irregular heartbeat and momentary insufficient oxygenation of the brain – associated with the loss of consciousness. The dog suddenly falls, is still, but in a few seconds, usually in half a minute, again wakes up and its state quickly returns to normal. The owner may feel fast and weak heart activity during the collapse after placing the palm on the rib cage from the left side in the heart area.

First aid from the owner consists of a heart massage, when with the palm of one or both hands compresses the chest with a significant force.

The main principle of first aid from the owner is to keep calm and act wisely!
